Experimental Settings

Choose outer-edge behavior and tune viewport, resolution, and printable wall controls.

Experimental controls solve specialized design or preview problems. Change one value at a time and inspect the result.

Delete outer edge method

This method appears for Imprint Cutter, Stamp, and Cutter + Stamp when Delete outer edge is available.

  • Preserve outline removes the outer traced edge while retaining the design's original silhouette and more interior detail. It is the default.
  • Offset inward uses the earlier behavior. It can help a design whose legacy result was preferable, but may narrow the silhouette or lose interior regions.

Turn on Delete outer edge in Imprint or Stamp settings before choosing a method.

Viewport measurements

Enable size labels shows the dimension labels and measurement guide lines in the 3D viewport. It is on by default. Turn it off for an uncluttered preview or screenshot; exported geometry does not change.

Hide subdivision highlights

When edge highlighting is on, this hides extra sampled rings created by topology subdivision. It is on by default. Turning it off is mainly useful for inspecting generated mesh detail and does not change exported geometry.

Hide depth-curve intermediate highlights

This hides sampled rings between the top and bottom of a curved depth profile. It is on by default and affects only preview edge highlighting.

Imprint thickness

Imprint thickness offsets interior lines from -5 mm to 5 mm. Positive values make them thicker; negative values make them thinner. The default is 0 mm. This is a Premium setting.

Resolution

Resolution sets the maximum points per millimeter used by the STL. The default is 100. Higher values can make curves smoother but produce more small printer moves and more complex files; lower values can make curves look angular.

Enforce wall thickness

This protects supported designs from walls that would be too thin to print or use. It requires Premium and appears only for cutter types whose interior geometry supports wall thickening.

Minimum wall thickness

Minimum wall thickness is the target width when enforcement is enabled. The default is 0.5 mm.

Simplification distance

This controls how closely thickened walls follow the original shape. Lower values preserve more detail and create more complex geometry; higher values simplify the result and can generate faster. The default is 0.05 mm.

Enforce specific thickness

When on, center lines use exactly the requested thickness. When off, Cookiecad combines thickened lines with the original shape, preserving more detail but sometimes producing uneven widths.
