Stencil Settings

Configure the repeated shape, layout, border, and backing of a stencil.

These controls appear only for the Stencil type.

Shape size

Choose millimeters or inches and set Size of longest edge for each repeated opening. The default is 15 mm.

Interior features

Generate loose features preserves disconnected interior islands such as eyes or a nose as separate generated pieces. Leave it off for openings that only use the outer silhouette.

Layout units and mode

Choose separate layout units, then select a Layout Mode:

  • Grid (Rows & Columns) uses counts and a fixed gap.
  • Dimensions (Width & Height) fills a requested finished area using the fixed gap.
  • Computed Grid Spacing fits the requested counts inside the requested finished dimensions.

Rows and columns

Rows and columns set the number of repeated shapes in Grid and Computed Grid Spacing modes. Both default to 6.

Total width and height

Total Width and Total Height set the finished backing dimensions in Dimensions and Computed Grid Spacing modes. Both default to 100 mm.

Grid spacing

Spacing between shapes sets the horizontal and vertical gap in Grid and Dimensions modes. The default is 3 mm.

Border margin

Margin around pattern leaves backing material between the outermost openings and the edge of the stencil. The default is 3 mm.

Tiling pattern

Choose Rectangular, Diagonal, or Random Arrangement. Rectangular is the default.

Backing thickness

Choose millimeters or inches and set the solid stencil backing thickness. The default is 1.5 mm.
